Panel Discussion and Cocktail Reception
On Tuesday, February 7, 2017 we invite you to attend a panel discussion focused on recent developments in the EMEA region and their implications for companies doing business in the region. Panelists will focus on the implications of “Brexit” in the UK; the nationalist wave sweeping Western European countries such as France, Germany and the Netherlands and what it may portend for the EU’s future; the continuing Russian security threat to Eastern Europe and NATO; the ongoing chaos in the Middle East arising from wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen and the threats posed by these wars, Iran, and terrorism to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other Gulf countries, Turkey, Egypt and Israel.
The panel will feature the following speakers:
- Gary Senior, a partner at Baker McKenzie based in London. Gary is currently a member of Baker McKenzie’s Executive Committee, and is Chair of the Firm’s EMEA region.
- Peter MacKay, a partner in our Toronto office and the former Canadian Minister of National Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Attorney General, and Minister of Justice.
- Mohamed Barakat, a partner in our Washington, DC office with extensive experience conducting business in the Middle East with emphasis on the Saudi Arabian market.
The panel will be moderated by Miguel Noyola, Chair of the International Commercial Practice Group, and Howard Weissman, Of Counsel in the Litigation & Government Enforcement Practice Group.
A cocktail reception will immediately follow the discussion.
